If you’re travelling when a native holiday comes around, do you celebrate no matter where you are? I sure do! Anyone who knows me is aware of the fact that I love my country. As today is the day we celebrate her official birth, I celebrated as Canadian-ly as possible while in this tropical paradise. Surrounded by new friends and my special someone, I brought it in style, decked out in as much Canada as I was able to fit in my suitcase.
It was also a mandatory that everyone who came had to drink a Caesar. For those of you that are unaware, this is different than a Bloody Mary and tastes 10000x better. The secret ingredient is you replace the tomato juice with Clamato juice. If you want to know what Clamato juice is, Google it AFTER you’ve had a Canadian Caesar otherwise you’ll ruin it for yourself. Robin and I found Clamato Juice during our first week in The Philippines and stocked up hard… with 5 bottles sitting in the cupboard waiting for today!
Besides the crazy heat and humidity that is uncharacteristic of Canada, everything else was pretty much on par for the day. The main message here: no matter where you come from, be proud of who you are and where you come from, because it’s made you who you are today.
Happy 148th birthday to my favourite country on the planet!
