I have a confession to make. I know you’ll never believe it, but I never used to be an outdoorsy type. When I graduated high school, I was all about checking out the big cities with a side of window shopping (I was a student after all). Crazy, right?! You would never have guessed considering how much I love chasing waterfalls and enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature. Over the past few years, my love for the great outdoors has grown. While I know a thing or two about outdoor exploration, there are still a few things that take me by surprise. Luckily that’s where Dickies Canada’s Ultimate Outdoor Adventure Packing List comes in handy!
Hiking is definitely my favourite outdoor activity, and the one I feel most comfortable with. I also love it because it’s so easy for friends to tag along! What’s better than getting some fresh air and a bit of exercise while catching up with a friend? All you need is a sturdy pair of boots, some water, and a trail. Oh and in my case, a camera (obviously). As it gets cooler, a windbreaker or winter jacket comes in handy to make sure I don’t succumb to the elements. A cold chill can really put a damper on an outdoor adventure!
When it comes to some other outdoor activities however… I definitely could use some help. This past summer I had the chance to go fishing and I was ecstatic. It was the first time I had done it in 10 years, and I wasn’t much of a fisher even as a kid. I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve been fishing in my life! Luckily I went with some experienced friends of mine. I always thought you can go fishing anywhere as long as you have a pole, some bait, and possibly a boat – right? Wrong. You’re required to have a fishing license. If you don’t, you can get into some deep trouble with Canada’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. And that’s just scratching the surface! At least I knew the basics to get me started!
Although other outdoor activities completely elude me. Take rock climbing for example – I wouldn’t even know where to begin! Luckily Dickies Canada can help get me started with their amazing infographic: The Outdoor Adventure Packing List. It also offers a few tips to help me out with some other fabulous outdoor activities, along with some great gear to help me enjoy them. Reading it makes me feel a little more prepared to take on these adventures – at least I know what to wear! Sometimes that’s half the battle!
What is your favourite outdoor activity? Do you tend to do some activities more than others? Is there anything in the infographic you’ve never done before?
